Day 35 - UNBC

Hello friends, today I got to enter the 10th and final province left on my trip, the lovely British Columbia. The views in BC so far have been among the best, and I cannot emphasize enough just how beautiful all of Canada is! On our way to Prince George BC, Vanessa and I managed to drive through both Jasper Provincial Park and Mount Robson Provincial Park, and the Canadian Rockies were just stunning. We definitely made multiple stops to just take some pictures. We also managed to see a lot of wildlife throughout the drive including bears, moose, deer, owls, horses and cows. Vanessa was a relatively new driving, so her getting to drive through BC and Alberta was pretty surreal for her. We stopped at the "Cafe Mt Robson" for lunch, and I then drove for the rest of the way to Prince George.

When we got to the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), we were surprised at just how small the school actually is, but the location of the campus and the amount of green around it is just glorious. All the buildings are connected together kinda like they form one giant building. Building 10 had some pretty realistic animal figures on display, as well as some beautiful first nations art throughout the building. Because their Engineering program is quite small, they don't  have a building strictly dedicated to Engineering. A cool thing I learned about UNBC though is that they only offer 1 kind of Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and it is in collaboration with UBC Vancouver. Students do 2 years at UNBC, followed by 2 years at UBC, and then go back to finish their degree at UNBC.

After visiting the campus we went out with a friend of ours from Prince George, Laura Fred, and grabbed some dinner at an Italian Restaurant called "Betulla Burning" (they have really good pizza). We then went back to Laura's place and planned out the logistics of the next 5 days of our trip; it's gonna be hectic to get it all done but definitely worth trying. Tomorrow we drive to Vancouver!

Day 43 - Getting Home (Part 3/3)

Hello friends! After  19537 km, 43 days, 10 provinces, 47 schools, 40 cities, 29 houses, and a lifetime of memories,  my road trip is now officially over as we made it back to Southern Ontario! It was such an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I am grateful for all of it. Today Vanessa and I had the longest continuous drive of my trip when we drove from Thunder Bay to Hamilton in ~16.5 hours. At this point in the trip, I had gotten so used to driving long distances, so the time just flew by. On our drive, we stopped in Wawa to visit Canada's largest goose, which was quite triggering but pretty cool to see. I also learned that aside from Mississauga in the GTA, there is Mississauga First Nation, which is located between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury along the Trans Canada Highway. Day 8 - UPEI

Hello friends, today the realization hit me that I am going to be on an island in the Atlantic Ocean... I was in Southern Ontario less than a week ago and my life has been a roller coaster ride since then. We woke up this morning after quite a peaceful night at Celine's grandparent's place, and we came downstairs to some freshly-made pancakes and a bag full of sandwiches and snacks for the road. I don't know what we did to deserve this, but I am very grateful for all of their support. We then hit the road and made our way to Prince Edward Island, and awe-inspiring doesn't even come close to describe how beautiful it is. We got onto the Confederation Bridge which connects New Brunswick and PEI, and all we could see were beautiful blue skies and breathtaking waters. At one point on the bridge, we could see both ends of the island, truly a sight to behold. We were told that we needed to go check out the shore in Victoria, PEI and so we did just that.
